Noli timere! The motto rings especially true in the ears of the newest class of Saint Joseph college seminarians, as the young men of SJCS embark on the seminary’s third academic year here in the Diocese of Charlotte. An inaugural Mass on August 5th welcomed the new “Charlie” class (following the preceding “Alphas” and “Bravos”) at Saint Ann Catholic Church, on whose campus the now three free-standing seminary houses are located. The new men spent the remainder of the Sunday moving into their new home on Hillside Avenue and enjoying both a reception hosted by Saint Ann’s and the annual welcome-to-seminary SJCS Barbecue. After taking the day to transition, it was back to work and school for all the seminarians! They began a  two-week long series of formation events–including Seminary Orientation, a Grammar Course conducted by Dr. Matthew Siebert from Belmont Abbey, and a Latin-Immersion with Dr. “Magistra” Nancy Llewellyn. The academic year at Belmont Abbey College officially began Tuesday, August 21st. Please keep our 21 Saint Joseph’s seminarians in your prayers.

Virgo Mater Maria, Sedes Sapientiae, ora pro nobis!

Lots of brains, bellies, and souls to fill!

Sancte Ioseph, ora pro nobis!
